Web applications are applications
that are accessed through a Web browser over a network such
as the Internet
or a company Intranet. Popular examples of such applications
include webmail, project management systems, etc. It is
easy to see the many advantages Web applications offer over
standard software packages. Remote access, no software to install,
maintain and update, and no costly licensing fees are just
a few.
Web-based
applications are programs that run on Web servers and use Web browsers
as the user interface. For the average user this new kind of software
will be easier, cheaper, more mobile, more reliable, and often more
powerful than desktop software.
